You may be eligible if you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Norfolk Island resident, aged 21 years or older, and one of the following:
Medicare offers rebates for audiology services upon referral from a medical practitioner, primarily for diagnostic tests.
Clients generally need a referral from a medical practitioner (such as GP, ENT Specialist, Neurologist) to access Medicare rebates for audiology services. It’s important to note that not all audiology services are claimable under Medicare.
Your GP can refer for audiology services as part of your care plan. It’s important to note that not all audiology services are claimable under this section.
Few private health funds can provide rebate towards your hearing aids. Please check your health fund for cover limit as each fund is unique.
*Medicare rebate may be available with a valid doctor’s referral, subject to the specific test requested. For hearing assessments billed under MBS item numbers 82315 and 82324, the standard rebate is $54.95.
